Our domain

Heart of AOC Bas Armagnac, the Domaine de Menard is situated on the famous Via Podensis, a road taked for centuries by pilgrims who are going to Saint Jacques de Compostelle.

In this beautiful landscape of Gascony, we are farming 120 hectares of vine, and we produce wine with the Indication Geographical Protected  (IGP) “Cotes de Gascogne”.

Our varieties

  • Colombard : it’s a typical variety of Gascony, very aromatic. It present a fruity nose whith an explosion of citrus fruit, exotic fruit, mango and pineapple.
  • Ugni blanc : it present a nose more flowery than fruity. It use in blend because it’s full, ample and get finesse.
  • Sauvignon : this variety offer aromas very typical and pleasant like grapefruit, passion fruit and box tree.
  • Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng : it’s Pyreneans varieties, with late  maturing. It present candied fruits aromas, like citrus fruits and apricot. We use them to make our sweet wines.

Each variety present a particular flavour, and the blend of different varieties sublimate flavours.

“ Blend can be compared to the achievement of a painting by a pinter. Each variety is a color. It’s so the choice and proportions of varieties which conduce to the harmony of the work ”

Our terroirs

The vineyard is established on a premium and ancestral terroirs. Indeed, plots are situated on a geologic marine site wellknow. You can find many fossils in vine rows.

On the clayey and limey soil, less deep and stony, we produce white and dry wines with Colombard, Ugni blanc and Sauvignon.

On sandly and deep soil, Petit and Gros Manseng bunches are harvested lately, so as to produce our sweet wines with an exceptional finesse.
